M33 - Spiral Galaxy in Triangulum
by Bob and Janice Fera
Parallax Instruments 12.5" f/9 Ritchey Chretien
Hypered Kodak Royal Gold 200 film
Two 90-minute exposures combined in Picture Window and enhanced in Photoshop
Taken September 15, 2001 from Mt. Pinos, CA
The scope was not collimated properly when this photo was taken, hence the unusual flares on some of the stars. However, the rest of the image seems worthy of sharing. We'll give it another shot next year!
Special thanks go to Tony Hallas, who performed some Photoshop "magic" on one of the exposures to remove the effects of a crease in the film right in the middle of the galaxy.
